A little accident

Kenji had a little accident today, well not so little, but in comparison to what it could have been it is by far a very minor thing. So I'm most certainly thankful that it wasn't worse. The Lord and his Angels truly did protect him. TYJ!

I had just finished giving him Word time and wanted to keep him still for a bit while I got his school things together for the morning. So I brought him some puzzles and other fun creative toys to entertain him with for about 5 minutes. He sat down on the rug and throughly immersed himself into the puzzle (he really likes puzzles so I got him some 24 piece ones that are easy for little ones to do).

I cleared up the Word time props, books, etc., we had used and brought some school things into the room he was in. Then I turned around and went for some paper and markers for our pre-writing exercises, but I didn't even make it down the hall to my room when I heard him cry.

Let me back track a bit, while I was clearing up the Word time items I took note of the fan being placed in such a way that the cord was stretched out and I thought to myself how someone could trip over it easily. Obviously the Lord was giving me a check to do something about it, but I brushed it off and told myself I would move the fan as soon as I brought all the school things to the room.

I guess I figured Kenji was entertained with his puzzle so he wouldn't get up for another 3-5 minutes, giving me enough time to finish up and then move the fan. But the Lord wasn't pleased with my procrastination and had to show me the importance of instant obedience, even in the little things, the hard way - through my baby having an accident.

Yep, Kenji tripped over that very cord I got a check about to move, but didn't. And because he had a puzzle piece in his hand he must of not taken note to the cord in his way, so the trip caught him off guard and he fell straight on his face/mouth. You can imagine how I felt when I noticed the cause of his fall. But there was no time to think about that now, Kenji's face and neck was covered in blood!

I took him to the bathroom and tried washing/wiping the blood off, but his nose was bleeding so much and he wouldn't let me plug it to keep it from bleeding even more as I guess it was pretty sore from the fall. His mouth was bleeding a lot too and both his lips were swollen, really, really swollen, in less than a minute.

Because of the swelling he wouldn't let me open his mouth to check if he had gotten a cut inside his mouth, or on his tounge or gums, but it was obvious that something big happened to his outer bottom lip. It looked like he had gotten it sliced as it was bleeding a lot, but I wasn't too sure as he wouldn't let me inspect it.

By this time grandma, Jo, and Ez came to see what had happened and one of them fetched some ice and honey. Grandma helped me clean his face up so that we could see just how bad the cut on his lip was. I thought that we were for sure going to have to take him in for some stitches on his lip, as it looked like it had gotten a bad cut/slice and for a while it looked like his 2 front teeth had gotten loose or something as he had these lines caked in blood right above the teeth, but such was not the case, TTL!

Once we cleaned him up and put honey on his nose and lips, and gave the honey time to do its thing, it looked as if his lip would heal up without stitches as it didn't appear to have sliced open. I don't know how to explain it, but it was more like the skin got bashed and bruised and in some parts he got little cuts where some of the inner lip was oozing out, making it look worse than what it was.

Thank the Lord that by that afternoon his swelling had diminished incredibly and he was able to eat a little bit of food. His lip although bruised and cut in some places was looking better and better by the hour and by nightfall he was doing so much better! I'm so grateful and thankful to the Lord for protecting Kenji from a worse accident.

I learned a very important lesson that morning one that we all at times get familiar with - that of asking the Lord everything and taking heed to his little nudges/checks in the spirit. But He is merciful and never gives us more than we can bear. He knows I wouldn't have been able to bear a more serious thing happening to Kenji due to my lack of obedience to His check. The Lord indeed is good! TYJ!

Because of the nature of the accident and all that followed it slipped my mind to capture Kenji in his first accident in relation to a fall (he had his first accident the beginning of this year). But the next day I was able to capture one sort-of-good pic of his ouchy. He wouldn't stay still long enough to capture his perfect little poses showing off his ouchy. And for some reason most of the pics came out to bright, maybe Noelle didn't have it in the right setting,so some of the pics look kind of funky but I'm trying to see if I can fix them before I upload them here so be patient. :)

In other happier news :D a couple of days ago I took out Kenji's little swimming pool and let him and Angel play in it for about 3 hours straight. They were so happy! It's mighty hot over here these days - 95 or more degrees at times and that's in the evening when it has supposedly cooled off! Yuck! That's not even funny!

The pictures,... finally! They aren't all that great, but at least you get to see the ouchy he got. :( Thank the Lord it's doing better now.
