And so our long, yet fun, 19 day trip - from Torreon to Saltillo then Mexico City and back to Saltillo and then to Torroen - has finally come to an end. Whew! That was a lot of traveling for a little tyke, but he did so well both in the car and the bus both ways!
I'm so happy it worked out for us to stay a week longer than our original plan in Saltillo as to tell you the truth I wasn't sure if Kenji would be up to traveling on a bus a day or two after our long 9 hour car drive from Mexico City. I sure wasn't looking forward to it! :D
Anyways, here are some random pics of the many fun things he did while in Saltillo this last week. I had a lot more, but had to cut down/choose the most interesting ones in order to not go past the MB limit Flickr gives the freebies. :) Seeing as I already posted a lot of pics in the last 3 posts. :D
One of his favorite things, by this I mean - ALL TIME FAVORITE, - was riding the trike that was there. Seriously he must have ridden the trike about 4 hours per day, no kidding, of course in short slots here and there, but still that's a lot of time!
Meaning that I spent that much time, each day, hunched over pushing him. The trike was a little too big for him so he wasn't able to actually pedal himself. But he will shortly as I want to get him, DV, a trike or something to that extent for his birthday. (He's going to be flipped! So pray I find a good one for a decent price. :D Thanks!)
Another thing he really enjoyed was doing projects, activities, or simply playing with the kids in the home. There are no kids his age or around his age here, so it was really nice for him and helped him socialize a little more. Although he didn't take too kindly to the little girl as she was way too overbearing and kept on trying to always hold his hand and always give him hugs, etc. It was cute, but Kenji didn't seem to think so. He was more like "Give me some space, lady"! Ha!
He really liked playing with the dogs and cat - my little animal lover - but still needs to learn to be more gentle with them. He thinks he's gentle enough, but Chester - the cat - didn't seem to agree with him when Kenji would try to pick him up by his tail or check out what was inside his ear. Ha! By the 3rd day we were there Chester would run and hide when Kenji came around making Kenji get all sad. He actually would slap his leg and say "oh, no!" with a big frown on his face. :( Pretty cute!
Oh, another thing that was sort of new to him was getting in the pool. He's gotten in once before when he was a little younger than a year, but it was too cold and he most certainly was not happy with that. Anyways, he didn't care too much about the water this time, but was more into riding the 'motorcycle' floaty. He would have stayed doing that for hours had I let him, but the sun was too hot at the time.

Happy Mother's Day!
"Feliz Dia de las Madres" mama, te amo mucho, mucho, mucho y estoy tan feliz de poder estar viviendo contigo y que Kenji te haiga conocido de chiquito. Gracias por todo lo que haz hecho por mi. Yo se que si no fuera por tu fe, amor, y paciencia no estaria donde estoy ahora. Mil gracias! Y espero hacerte orgullosa. :) Te deseo lo mejor de lo mejor hoy y todos los dias. Te amo mami! Eres la mama # 1! xoxo
Just yesterday evening we arrived back in Saltillo from our trip to Mexico City. Thank the Lord the trip went well and we had a good time. I got to see old friends and make some new ones ;). But most of all I'm sooo thankful that Kenji didn't get sick while on our trip and that he had a chance to be around and play with other little kids.
I had planned to stay a day or two at the most in Saltillo before heading back home, but in the end I stayed a little over a week longer. Thanks to both my home who let me have some extra days away and the home in Saltillo who agreed to have me there for longer than what was originally agreed upon even though they were in the middle of packing and moving houses. GBT! Love you guys!
To be honest seeing as I was on a trip and traveling I sort of lost track of time and dates. While on the trip I knew Mother's Day was approaching but it must of slipped my mind that it was, TODAY! As I stepped out of my room heading off to the shower at about 10:30 a.m. I was greeted in the dinning-room by at least 10 people with "Happy Mother's Day, Suko!" It was great! :)
But there is more to this little tale, you see the very first person who wished me a "Happy Mother's Day" was Calvin. Okay, so you may be thinking what's the big deal? Well, you see Calvin is a sweet guy, I'm sure, and I say this as an assumption of mine seeing as the last couple of times I've been there I hardly if at all spoke to him or he to I.
So I was surprised when he said, "Happy Mother's Day, Suko!" and then offered Kenji and I some of the breakfast he had made for himself. (It was Family Day/Rest Day) I was so touched by his thoughtfulness. This served to remind me to never judge people by their outward appearance or even by their initial pose. Something I am working on little by little. :D Those who know me know that it's not an easy thing for me to expand my "friendship-circle," but I am determined to succeed! :)
But that's not it for the surprises that day. Throughout the morning my sister, Liz, called me from Veracruz, as well as a friend in Guadalajara and my mom. (But your call was the special one, Liz, because it was the first one). :) Then as naptime rolled around, now I'll have you know I must have my nap unless you want me to be a grouch potato the rest of the day :), I found a vase with a lovely rose and flowers along with a pack of delicious chocolates and a little note from Maria and Ez. So sweet! Unfortunately my little "mouse" (a.k.a. Kenji) got a hold of one of my chocolates and would have eaten them all had I not hide them from him. Such a rascal!
That afternoon Angie offered to watch Kenji for a bit and did a special cooking project - baked cookies for mommy - with him and the girls there in the home. A very special thing for Kenji as he's never done this before as the oven back home stopped working by the time we arrived there. But thank the Lord a friend has recently donated us a beautiful new stove. TYJ! So it was a fun and new experience for Kenji to help bake cookies, and he loved it!
All in all today was a wonderful day! I couldn't be more thankful for the many blessings I have. A few being; blessed with a healthy, handsome, little tyke of my own and thus being a mother, all my loved ones who have been there for me through thick and thin, living with my mom these last 7 months, and most importantly having the privilege to be part of the wonderful Offensive and all the blessings the Lord has promised us.

Fun, fun and more fun!
Today John and Mya got married. HORRAY! It was a sweet and simple setting and ceremony, and they both looked great! Thanks for inviting us guys. Love you!
Here's a bit more of what Kenji's been up to these past couple of days. The plan is to head back to Saltillo tomorrow, but I have a feeling we're going to be delayed a day or two. Which I don't mind. :)

And so our journey begins.
A couple of months ago Kenji and I got an invitation to J/M's wedding, scheduled for the 7th of May. Now with the wedding date fast approaching we had to begin our travel midday Friday the 2nd to Saltillo where we would meet up with Angie, Ez, Jo, and Chris and all travel down the next day. Here is a wee bit of what happened during our travel and arrival.
Friday:
I ever so carefully planned this bus ride. I purposefully got to the bus station 15 minutes before the bus was scheduled to leave as I didn't want to be waiting around so long for it but to my dismay the bus was late, nothing too unusual. So I found myself having to wait close to half an hour before getting on the bus then another 10 minutes before actually pulling out of the station. Not so cool!
As soon as we got on the bus Kenji asked me to open the Sprite bottle I had gotten for myself and helped himself to it, so naughty! Seeing as the bus was taking a while to begin it's drive Kenji decided to draw a bit, but was quickly distracted with a video of "Alvin and the chipmunks".
When the bus finally decided that it was good and ready to pull out, 45 minutes late mind you, Kenji did the cutest thing. As the bus took off, and a good 5 minutes into our drive, Kenji was holding on to the curtain with one hand and continued drawing with the other, I guess he felt safer that way. So cute! Thank the Lord we had a safe and quick bus ride and Kenji slept through the majority of the trip.
So we arrive in Saltillo at about 4:00, get picked up, do some food shopping for our trip the next day, and then finally go to the home at about 6:00 and to our surprise it happens to be Papa's birthday and because of this the home is making a special meal - roasted lamb and some other tasty trimmings to go along with it. It was delicious!
Saturday:
We began our long journey to Mexico City at around 10:30, I know a bit late but I wasn't the one driving so I didn't have much say :D. We also had to make a stop that took a bit of time as a fuel place agreed to fill up our tank before leaving so we had to spend some time with this man, but it was worth it! Another plus was that thankfully the car we drove down in was a spacious one so we weren't too squishy!
And to tell you the truth it was a rather pleasant drive, minus the intense heat even with the AC on at around noon, and we managed to make it in 9 hours! No we didn't drive like mad we actually had a speed limit we had to stick to :D. Well the driving alone was actually 8 hours, but with the usual bathroom breaks and lunch break we made a total of 9 hours. Not bad, huh?
Kenji behaved pretty well, he only had one throw up scare, and lucky for me slept for the majority of our journey. He got a bit fussy close to lunch time, but with Chris in the car it kept his mind away from his "troubles" or more like it kept him scared to do anything other then stare at him, heh.
After he got bored of Chris and his "cleverness" I managed to keep him happy a bit longer till our lunch break with a drawing board. Then once he got bored of drawing Angie took over and it kept him happy a tad longer. He really did do his best to stay happy and wait for lunch break, but after a good while he couldn't hold out anymore so I gave him a little snack in the car, but it didn't go so well for his tummy as we were in motion, thus the throw-up scare. :(
At one of our snack/bathroom breaks a couple of motorcycles parked right beside us and Kenji got so happy and excited and made me walk him over to where they were parked. He kept on repeating "WHOA, mama, WHOA!" as we stood in front of them and watched the motorcycles drive off one by one, but then got so sad when they were all gone. :( (Mental note: I must try and get him one for his b-day which is fast approaching).
Anyways, at about 7:30 we arrived at the CTC safe and sound and were greeted by old friends as well as by a lovely rain storm. It was actually quite pleasant, well maybe because I really like rain, and much prefer cold weather over hot weather. Thank the Lord even though Kenji slept a lot during our trip, he still went to bed at a decent time and slept so well.
Sunday:
After a sleep-in and some Word time we all headed out to Tepo for some Mother's Day shopping and of course a yummy lunch at the traditional place - "La Duena". It's funny how going there again, brought back so many memories, good and bad, ha!
Seeing as Kenji wasn't really into shopping and preferred to play and run around I bought him a ball to play with in the little "kiosko". He had a great time with the ball and kept on yelling "Goal!" each time he kicked it. Then when he had enough of that he went on a little car ride. He was flipped out at the fact that he was "driving" a car. Such a cutie!
After a couple of yummy Tepo ice-creams we headed back home for a little snooze. And spent the rest of the afternoon doing things that little boys love doing like; chasing the dogs around/trying to get them to play with him, riding a tricycle, playing with cars, climbing up and down a flight of stairs, playing soccer, running down hills, playing in the dirt, I mean building something ... heh, and of course getting into a whole lot of every day naughtiness.
