That's right, today he turns 1 1/2 yrs. old and there is no way I was going to just let this very special day go by without a celebration. Call me a freak if you like, see if I care. ;) Okay, so a 'month day' doesn't warrant a huge party, but why not celebrate it even if in a small special way? And that is just what I did!
Every day we go to a park in our neighborhood and we walk past this ice-cream shop. Kenji at first didn't really know what this shop was, but after granddad bought him a paleta a couple of weeks ago he makes a big deal, tries to go in, when we walk by it. So I figured that taking him to the ice-cream shop would be something special for him, as well as a simple way to celebrate his 'month day'.
Now, I personally don't think that sweets, ice-cream, etc., should be things you give to a child as a treat or a "shiner prize," (actually his favorite "shiner prizes," believe it or not, are vitamins and/or dried fruits) but I chose ice-cream mainly for what it would mean to him to be allowed to go into the ice-cream shop, and it seemed a refreshing snack to have on such a hot day.
After having his fill on ice-cream we headed towards the park and he opted for "exploring" around rather than play in the playground. This is his latest thing, he just loves to get into everything or anywhere his little feet will take him :D
Well that's just a little peak into what we did to celebrate his 'month day'. Next post I'll write down some of the highlights of his accomplishments now that he is a year and a half so don't miss it ! ;)

It is finished ...
Unfortunately this post does not contain much originality and will most likely sound very familiar to you (yea, that would be to you Liz :D) to the point that it may seem as I've been repeating myself these last 6 sum posts (think) but the blog also serves me as a "diary" and so I must jot down these things for memories sake.
Anyhow, at last his 3rd left bottom tooth/6th bottom tooth, thus making it be his 12th and last tooth, is out!!! Yes, God be praised!!! It is finished ... well for now at least, but that is good enough for me as the last month or two have been rough (this is probably what I look like, (:l , only add some major bags under my eyes ...ehe) so I'm happy it's over. And the good news is you can expect more interesting news from the blog from now on. ;)

Good news!
Oh, I'm so happy! I took Kenji to the pediatrician today, (early January we met a sweet pediatrician who agreed to check the kids up bimonthly TYJ!) and the good news is that he gained 900 grams this past month and a half, putting him at 9.900 kg. Yay!!!
He's still somewhat underweight :( so do pray that he can continue to gain weight as well as he did this past month and a half, thank you! The pediatrician prescribed some special "vitamin drops," well they're more like drops to open his appetite, yet healthy. So hopefully that will help some too, sure hope so :D.
Some other news, his 3rd right top tooth/6th top tooth = 11th tooth has cut through! Hooray! One more to go for this round of teeth coming in to be over (whew) TYJ! :D And thank God for coffee!!!

Happy 40th Family Birthday!
Well, the Feast has come and gone and now it's on to the Offensive! TYJ! But as is custom we couldn't end the Feast without a good old fellowship :D. To be honest I really didn't want to go to the area fellowship in Monterrey simply because it meant a 6 hour trip in the daytime with Kenji. But seeing that it would mean a chance for Kenji to meet old friends (Mark and Gia's kids) and make new ones :D and simply just get to do something different I opted to go.
He's traveled by car before and he'd always done pretty well, but I guess because the circumstances were different in this trip (he being older, sitting in the double cab pick-up compartment) he didn't do so well. The poor little muffin threw up twice during our 6 hour trip :( Something he's never done before, and mind you he's traveled longer distances a fair bit prior to this trip; by plane 1 time, car 2 times, and bus 3 times.
Anyhow, we made it to the fellowship safe and sound. It was supposed to be a nice, warm, sunny day, but it just happened to be quite the contrary -- cold, cloudy, and rainy :( Thankfully though the Lord gave me a check when packing for the trip to bring warm clothes as well so while others suffered from cold :D we were all nice and warm. TYJ!
Unfortunately I wasn't able to get many photos due to the rain/drizzling, but here are some that I got at one point when the rain stopped for a bit.
Not sure what is running through his head? But it can't be good, look at that face!
He was having such a fun time stomping on the wet leaves, but after some time he thought it was more fun to throw it at people. So naughty!
Angie picked him up for the slower songs of the inspiration, but he wasn't too happy with her for taking him away from his fun leaf playing time.
Steve playing with his old singing team. They were great!
Grandma had a nice meal ready for us upon arriving home. Kenji was most thankful for his food and was so happy to see his grandma. (She and Angel didn't go because Angel had school therapy to attend to and he had already missed a couple of them due to the Feast).
It's really rather cute how excited he gets when grandma comes home if she's been out for a bit. He lets out this high-pitch shriek followed by "a'ma!" (a.k.a. grandma) at the top of his lungs as he runs down the hall towards the door.
After dinner he began playing with his food I usually don't allow him to grab the food with his fingers, unless it's finger food, dump his food on the table, etc., but seeing as he was in a half asleep/foolish mood and as such began talking to himself and the food I let him continue for a bit. Didn't get as many photos as I would have liked to as once he realized what I was doing he got all shy.

New routine ...
So far when teeth or molars have come in it's 2 on the top or 2 on the bottom at a time, but it looks like this time he will break out of that "routine/pattern." Change is good, right? ;)
Last week he got a bottom tooth so another bottom one should have followed, but today he got his 3rd left top tooth/5th top tooth = 10th tooth! Which means 2 more teeth are sure to follow.

So proud of him!
I feel so bad for the little guy ... another tooth, his 3rd right bottom tooth/5th bottom tooth = 9th tooth just cut through today exactly 3 weeks after his 4th molar! :( He's been such a brave little guy in spite of the discomforts, that I'm sure he has, and is for the most part pretty happy throughout the day. TYJ!
Along with is new tooth, he's also picked up some new behaviors, can't really say "bad" or "good" as he's so little and inquisitive of everything and most of the time when he is doing something it's simply for the sole purpose of investigating the concept of "cause and effect".
He's a smart little cookie, (of course he is, not only is he a Virgo but he's mine ... lol ... jk) but he is no angel, mind you. He clearly understands when he is doing something naughty, but regardless of my warnings and even corrections he is so strong-willed/stubborn and will go right back to the very thing that got him into trouble.
Like I said, sometimes I know that he is just exploring the effect of his own choices, but even that has a limit, in my opinion. There is a thin line between exploring and disobedience at this age, and unless you are spirit led it's very easy to have this thin line become one great blur.
But thankfully he is getting the hang of what the "boundaries/limits" are and will for the most part obey right way. Of course he still tries to outsmart me (ha, nice try) sometimes but just one stern look his way and its fixed :)
Well, all in all, he is doing well -- happy and healthy, TYJ! He's learning and doing so much, I'll have to write about all his latest achievements, etc., and post photos as well hopefully sooner than later :) so stay tuned.
